Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, aka photofacial is a quick 30-minute treatment requiring little to no downtime. Photofacials treat sun damaged skin, brown spots, and small blood vessels. IPL can be also used to treat rosacea, helping reduce the redness and flushing up to +80%.
During a photofacial, a clear ultrasound gel is applied to the skin. Wavelengths of light are used to stimulate the skin, this naturally regenerates skin cells while boosting collagen production. Sensation experienced during treatment is often described as a mild rubber band snap. Medical grade cold air is applied during treatment.

Will I see results after one treatment?
Yes! Immediately after 1 treatment, your skin will appear brighter and pores and lines will be more refined. The Carbon solution penetrates deep into the dermis, and is able to absorb excess sebum and other impurities from the pores leaving your skin feeling clean and rejuvenated. Mild active acne will often resolve in the following days and new breakouts are expected to be reduced. Discolourations may appear softer immediately after treatment and can lighten up as the days and weeks go on. A series of 3-5 treatments may be recommended to achieve more of a result for reducing discoloration, scarring, and enhanced skin tightening. Treatment intervals are recommended 4 weeks apart.
Are Carbon Laser Peels safe?
The carbon solution used within this treatment is very gentle on the skin, there is no sensation when the carbon solution is setting. As well as feeling gentle during treatment, the process does not use any form of physical exfoliating, which can irritate the skin. This treatment is revolutionary in achieving results typically related to treatments with downtime, without using high levels of laser energy.
Is there any downtime?
It is normal for your skin to look a little rosey and feel slightly tingly, after the treatment. These effects will often ease within a few hours and should not cause disruption to your day. It’s ideal after treatment to keep the skin clean and dry, avoiding wearing heavy make-up. After the laser carbon peels the skin may be more sensitive to the sun for up to 1 month. Increasing the level of protection may be useful, using mineral sun protection and avoiding activities that include the intent to tan your face.

Will I see results after one treatment?
Yes! 1 treatment can often reduce or remove small brown pigment spots. Depending on the depth of the pigment, multiple treatments may be required for the final result. Vascular lesions ( ruby points, cherry angiomas, small facial veins ) can at times clear with 1 treatment as well. A series of 3-5 treatments are often recommended for a longer term reduction of rosacea and a final result on reducing brown spots.
Are IPL Photofacials safe?
Yes, IPL photofacial is safe for many different skin types. Like any cosmetic procedure, clients are screened prior to treatment to ensure they are good candidates for safe effective results.
Some clients may experience mild swelling, redness post treatment, and a mild warm sensation for a few hours post treatment.
Is there any downtime?

Avoid exfoliating products for 1 week post treatment. Talk to your laser technician about other treatments you are receiving, intervals around cosmetic injections, waxing, or other skin treatments may be recommended.
